What is the Mental Health Support Team in School?

At Rothley C of E Academy, we believe that every child should feel happy, safe and supported so they can flourish both academically and personally. Positive mental health and emotional wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do, and we are proud to work in partnership with the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) to provide early support for our pupils and families.

The MHST works alongside our school to help children and young people who may be experiencing mild to moderate emotional or mental health difficulties. Their role is to provide early intervention, helping children develop the skills and confidence they need to manage challenges before they become more significant.

The team works closely with our staff, parents and carers to ensure that support is tailored to each child's needs. They can offer:

- Support for children experiencing difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, friendship concerns or emotional regulation.

- Advice and practical strategies for parents and carers to help support their child's emotional wellbeing at home.

- Consultation and guidance for school staff to ensure we are providing the best possible support within school.

- Whole-school initiatives that promote positive mental health, resilience and emotional wellbeing for all pupils.

- Support with accessing other services where more specialist help may be needed.

Working together, we aim to ensure that children receive the right support at the right time, enabling them to feel confident, resilient and ready to learn.

If you have any concerns about your child's emotional wellbeing or would like to find out more about the support available through the Mental Health Support Team, please speak to your child's class teacher or contact our school's SENDCo or Pastoral Team by emailing admin@rothley.leics.sch.uk. We are always happy to discuss any concerns and help you access the most appropriate support.

At Rothley C of E Academy, we are committed to nurturing the whole child, supporting not only academic achievement but also emotional wellbeing, so that every member of our school community can flourish.
