"Working together to achieve value and recognise the strengths of all"
The children have all had the opportunity to access Bug Club at school. They have used it when sharing a text with the whole class, during guided reading sessions, and when reading individually in the computer suite or on the iPads in class. The 'bug' questions are really helping to make children stop and think about what they are reading and develop their comprehension skills.
Lots of the children have been making the most of being able to read books online at home. If your child has not had the chance to do this yet, the information below gives details of how to log on.
This term Mrs Walton will be looking out for champion readers in each class to receive a special Bug Club award for reading the most books. As it stands the current 'top readers' in each class are:
6JR - Owen with 10 books
6AT - Avisha & Lily with 10 books each
5JG - Issac with 14 books
4CS David with 39 books
4NB Alex R & Tyreece with 20 books

These children have received a 'Bug Club' certificate for their efforts with reading at home.
Using the online reading world
If you have access to an internet connection, your child can enjoy reading Bug Club books online. Each child has a unique homepage and can log into it by following these steps:
**If your child has forgotten their password please speak to their teacher.
Reading a book online
We allocate books to your child according to their reading levels. These books will appear in the ‘My Stuff’ area of their personal homepages.
Throughout the books there are quiz questions for your child to complete. To answer a question, just click on the bug icon. Your child does not need to finish all the quiz questions in one sitting and can come back to a book later.
When your child has finished all the quiz questions in a book, he or she will earn ‘ActiveLearn Coins’. By reading more books, your child will earn enough coins to ‘buy’ a reward in one of the many reward schemes. The answers to the quiz questions will be sent back to our teacher site so that we can see how your child is progressing. We will also be able to assign more books for your child to read if the virtual book bag is running low.
When your child has finished a book, it will move to ‘My Library’. Children can read these books again if they want to, or they can choose new books from ‘My Stuff’.
