Rothley Church of England Primary (Academy)

"Working together to achieve value and recognise the strengths of all"

Rothley's History Curriculum

The school follows the history curriculum which is specified by the Department for Education. This covers the period from the Stone Age until the Modern Day. There are a number of local and thematic topics. Details of the periods covered by each year group are shown in the termly curriculum plan.

History is an exciting way to discover the past and we use our local area as a base for the learning.  The history of Britain and the wider world are covered giving children a feel for the global influences Britain has on the world and how other cultures history impacts on us today.

Pupils consider how the past influences the present, what past societies were like, how these societies organised their politics, and what beliefs and cultures influenced people's actions. Children learn to ask questions and consider evidence from multiple sources. This begins to inform children's opinions about the modern world.
